About Me
Hi, I'm Laura!
I have a love of learning and a passion for teaching!
I first became interested in chemistry in high school when I learned a little bit about quantum mechanics and atomic orbitals.
I believe chemistry is exciting and relevant for everyday life, and I hope that my students will also come to appreciate and enjoy chemistry.
I consider myself flexible, easy-going, and patient!
My current hobbies and personal interests include: cooking from scratch, playing bass guitar, watching anime, studying computer science, and practicing foreign languages (Spanish, Japanese, French).
In the future, I would like to study a postgraduate degree and become a university instructor.
Education & Experience
I graduated from the University of Calgary with a First Class Honours degree in Chemistry (cGPA of 4.0/4.0). During my studies, I spent three summers as a student researcher and completed my honour’s thesis in the field of organic chemistry.
After graduating, I went on to work in the US as a Research Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry, where I was able to apply a lot of the knowledge that I learned in school.
I have been tutoring chemistry online now for several years. I tutor general and organic chemistry almost exclusively, but I am open to and interested in tutoring other areas such as analytical chemistry and Spanish.
